About the position

The IT Teacher Assistant II Floater plays a crucial role in supporting teaching staff in delivering quality early childhood education experiences for infants and toddlers. This position involves working under the supervision of the Head Teacher or Center Director, participating in a teaching team, and implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum while adhering to Head Start Performance Standards and agency policies.

Responsibilities

  • Support teaching staff in providing quality early childhood education experiences.
  • Participate in the implementation of a developmentally appropriate curriculum.
  • Individualize activities based on children's strengths and areas of growth.
  • Assist with child observations and maintain the classroom environment.
  • Implement Individualized Education Plans and recommendations from Child and Family Consultants.
  • Encourage social interaction and cooperation among children.
  • Model successful early childhood teaching strategies and techniques.
  • Encourage parent participation and engagement in the classroom.
  • Attend and participate in agency trainings, workshops, and staff meetings.
  • Collect and submit monthly education and volunteer in-kind forms to the supervisor.

Requirements

  • Must possess 12 CORE ECE units including 3 additional infant and toddler units in Early Childhood Education or Child Development.
  • Previous experience working for a child development, social services, or health-related agency.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and current personal vehicle insurance.
  • Ability to obtain Pediatric First Aid/CPR Certification within the first 60 days of work.
  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to diversity and understanding the needs of families from different cultures.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual/biliterate in English/Spanish, English/Hmong, or English/Punjabi may be required based on program needs.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to problem-solve and be proactive.
