About the position

The IT Teacher I, II, III position is responsible for providing quality early childhood education experiences in a center-based program for infants and toddlers. The role involves implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum, supporting assistants and volunteers, and maintaining compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and other regulations. The teacher will work closely with families to promote child development and ensure a safe and healthy learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality early childhood education experiences for infants and toddlers.
• Implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities.
• Conduct developmental screenings and assessments, and maintain portfolios.
• Facilitate educational conferences with families.
• Encourage parent participation and provide education on child development.
• Ensure classroom environments meet health and safety standards.
• Participate in agency trainings and professional development activities.
• Act as a mentor to classroom support staff and other teachers.

Requirements

• Level I: Associate Teacher Permit or Child Development Associate (CDA) credential.
• Minimum of one year of classroom experience (3 hours/day for 50 days).
• 24 Early Childhood Education units (12 core) and 16 General Education Units.
• Level II: Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field with 24 Early Childhood Education units.
• Level III: Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field with 24 Early Childhood Education units.
• Knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards and regulations.

Nice-to-haves

• Bilingual/biliterate in English/Spanish or other languages.
• Experience in time management and organizational skills.
