About the position

The IT Tech position at the Municipality of Princeton involves providing technical support and guidance to municipal staff and emergency services personnel. The role requires a proactive approach to troubleshooting and resolving IT issues, ensuring that all technology systems function effectively to support the municipality's operations. The ideal candidate will work full-time, primarily during standard business hours, with some flexibility required for evenings and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to municipal staff and emergency services personnel.
• Troubleshoot system and network problems, diagnosing and solving hardware/software faults.
• Manage Active Directory user accounts and Microsoft Office365 administration.
• Support Windows 10/11 and Windows Server 2019/2022 hardware/software.
• Assist with the operation of SharePoint, Teams, Exchange, and Microsoft Defender.
• Maintain VMware hardware/software and Meraki switches and access points.
• Support Mitel phone systems and door access systems.
• Manage IP surveillance cameras and ExacqVision systems.
• Assist with printers, print servers, and scanners.
• Process OPRA requests and maintain compliance with regulations.

Requirements

• Two-year degree in information technology or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Valid NJ Driver's License in good standing.
• Must pass physical, drug screen, and criminal background check.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Barracuda products such as web filters and backup appliances.
• Knowledge of network principles such as TCP/IP, DNS, and firewalls.
• Ability to independently research and resolve technical issues.
