About the position

The IT Tech position is a full-time role within the Information Technology department, focused on providing technical support and guidance to municipal staff and emergency services personnel. The role requires a proactive and enthusiastic individual who can manage multiple tasks and work effectively under pressure, ensuring the smooth operation of IT services across various municipal sites.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support and guidance to Municipal staff and emergency services personnel.
• Troubleshoot system and network problems, diagnosing and solving hardware/software faults.
• Support multiple sites across the Municipality.
• Establish good working relationships with staff, other professionals, and vendors.
• Independently research and resolve technical issues using online resources and vendor helpdesk.
• Manage Active Directory user management and Microsoft Office365 administration.
• Support Windows 10/11 and Windows Server hardware/software.
• Assist with IP surveillance cameras and ExacqVision.

Requirements

• Two-year degree in information technology or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal, organizational, and presentation skills.
• Must satisfy employer paid physical, drug screen, and criminal background check.
• Valid NJ Driver's License in good standing.
• Proof of US Citizenship or immigration status required upon hire.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with VMware hardware/software support.
• Knowledge of Meraki Switches and Access Points.
• Familiarity with Mitel Phone Systems and door access systems.
• Experience with Barracuda products such as web filters and backup appliances.
• Working knowledge of network principles such as TCP/IP, DNS, and firewalls.
