About the position

The IT Technical Project Manager III at UDR, Inc. is responsible for managing all project-related tasks, leading resources and teams to coordinate activities among technical staff, users, and vendors. This role ensures adherence to IT Department project management standards, delivering high-quality service and project deliverables while maintaining schedules and budgets. The position involves overseeing multiple projects, managing stakeholder relationships, and ensuring technology enhancements align with business needs.

Responsibilities

• Oversee several small to medium scale projects with supervision by a more senior team member.
• Organize the Project team into appropriate work groups and work closely with Team Leaders and potential third parties/vendors.
• Identify resource needs and coordinate with IT Managers about resource allocation for assigned projects.
• Manage the relationship with the stakeholders and conduct stakeholder outreach.
• Monitor the Project Scope Management process and ensure significant change requests are escalated to the Steering Committee.
• Interface with all areas affected by the project including end users and vendors.
• Ensure technology enhancements are well suited to business needs and develop project plans in conformance with IT standards.
• Develop and report on metrics to measure project status and success.
• Provide status reporting regarding project milestones, deliverables, dependencies, risks, and issues.
• Lead or support interdisciplinary teams in preparing and developing project-related documents.
• Oversee the various testing phases of technology projects and help stakeholders evaluate testing success.
• Maintain central project repositories for IT staff and corporate project stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Project participants to evaluate the best solution and resolve disagreements.
• Report and escalate to management as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned or necessary.
• Manage multiple medium to large scale projects under general supervision.
• Facilitate review and approval of contracts or statements of work for third parties/vendors.
• Demonstrate and continually develop leadership skills.
• Contribute to establishing practices, templates, policies, tools, and partnerships to expand project delivery capabilities.
• Contribute to feasibility studies, vendor selections, and proposals for evaluation by stakeholders.
• Provide coaching and guidance to other team members.
• Manage a portfolio of complex initiatives and large projects that span multiple lines of business.
• Provide guidance and act as a mentor to other team members.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems Management, Business Administration, Technology Management, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
• Minimum three years' successful project management experience required.
• Knowledge of and experience using mainstream project management tools such as Planview or Microsoft Project is required.
• Experience with various project methodologies such as agile development and waterfall desired.
• Must either have or be working towards Project Management Professional (PMP) certification by the Project Management Institute (PMI).
• Minimum four to six years' successful project management experience required for Level II.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification by the Project Management Institute (PMI) is required for Level III, in good standing.
• Minimum seven to ten years' successful project management experience required for Level III.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience as a Scrum Master or Product Owner facilitating Agile methods as part of the IT Development process.
