The IT Technical Project Manager (TPM) role is crucial in ensuring that technical projects are planned, established, and managed effectively. The TPM serves as a liaison between the business and technical aspects of assigned projects, aligning them with customer needs and requirements. This role involves constructing detailed work plans, achieving milestones, and communicating results across a stakeholder audience. The IT TPM is responsible for organizing projects to ensure they are completed on time and within budget, while also supporting and maintaining business applications and infrastructure. The primary responsibilities include managing assigned technical projects to ensure adherence to budget, schedule, and scope. The TPM develops, maintains, and revises proposals for projects, including objectives, technologies, systems, information specifications, timelines, funding, and resources. They facilitate the gathering and validation of project requirements, set and track project milestones, and manage unforeseen delays by realigning schedules and expectations as needed. Regular communication with project teams and stakeholders is essential, as is the collection and analysis of information to prepare project status reports. The TPM also maintains comprehensive project management documentation and focuses on continuous improvement by applying various principles and techniques to make process improvement recommendations to management.
