About the position

The IT Technical Project Manager is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control, and completion of strategic IT projects, ensuring consistency with and adherence to company strategies, policies, processes, methodologies, commitments, and goals. This role involves managing and directing the day-to-day activities of one or more projects, including the formulation of project teams, development of project execution plans, and deliverables. The Project Manager leads complex IT projects through the full project life-cycle, which includes project initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure, to successfully deliver assigned projects within agreed-upon constraints such as scope, schedule, labor cost, and quality. In this position, the Project Manager develops and executes comprehensive project execution plans that include deliverables, goals, milestones, resource loading, and cost management. They are responsible for managing the project budget and resources effectively, directing project team resources to ensure successful project delivery. The role also requires the development and maintenance of project and/or technical documentation, ensuring completeness and accuracy, and facilitating effective communication among project stakeholders. The Project Manager will brief upper management on project activities, costs, schedules, status, and technical performance on a weekly or monthly basis. Participation in departmental management processes such as planning, budgeting, and scheduling is also expected. Additionally, the Project Manager may be involved in developing procurement deliverables for external services and materials, potentially serving in a subcontractor administrator role. Some travel may be required, but it is expected to be 30% or less.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control, and completion of strategic IT projects.
  • Manages and directs the day-to-day activities of one or more projects, including the formulation of project teams and development of project execution plans.
  • Leads complex IT projects through the full project life-cycle, including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure.
  • Develops and executes comprehensive project execution plans, including deliverables, goals, milestones, resource loading, and cost management.
  • Manages the project budget and resources effectively, directing project team resources to ensure successful delivery.
  • Develops and maintains project and/or technical documentation, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Ensures effective communication exists with and among projects for which he/she is responsible.
  • Briefs upper management weekly and/or monthly on project activities, cost, schedule, status, and technical performance.
  • Participates in departmental management processes such as planning, budgeting, and scheduling.
  • Participates and/or develops procurement deliverables for external services and materials.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Master's degree is preferred.
  • Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification OR Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) Leading SAFe Certified.
  • Experience in Microsoft Project or equivalent tool.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a diverse group.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, time management skills, organizational skills, and oral and written skills.
  • Good understanding of risk management, risk mitigation, and contingency planning.

Nice-to-haves

  • Scrum Master Certification preferred.
  • Agile Project Management Certification preferred.
  • ITIL Foundations Certification preferred.
  • ServiceNow experience with Agile Development and Project modules preferred.
  • Highly motivated with proven ability to develop, lead, and manage multiple concurrent and complex IT projects.
  • Knowledge of project management best practices and processes, particularly those of the Project Management Institute (PMI).
  • Knowledge of project lifecycle management and software development life cycle.
  • IT project leadership skills focused on control of time, cost, and quality.
  • Ability to manage and direct activities of multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Experience in conflict resolution with individuals or teams.
  • Experience serving as a Scrum Master is desired.
  • Experience executing agile projects is desired.
