About the position

The IT Technical Writer will be responsible for creating clear and concise technical documentation for IT systems and processes. This role requires a strong understanding of technical concepts and the ability to communicate them effectively to various audiences. The position is temporary and contract-based, with a focus on producing user manuals, online help, training materials, and other documentation relevant to IT environments.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain technical documentation including user manuals, online help, and training materials.
• Collaborate with developers, engineers, and product managers to gather information and ensure accuracy of documentation.
• Translate complex technical concepts into clear and understandable language for the target audience.
• Review and edit documentation for clarity, consistency, and adherence to style guidelines.
• Participate in the software development lifecycle to understand documentation needs and timelines.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communications, technical writing, computer science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of three years of demonstrable experience in technical writing, preferably in an IT environment.
• Excellent writing and editing skills with the ability to produce clear and concise documentation.
• Strong technical aptitude and comfort with learning complex technical concepts.

Nice-to-haves

• Prior experience with IT systems, software development, or networking.
• Understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
