About the position
The IT Technician will provide level 1 support for district-issued devices, hardware, and software. Following the technical direction of the IT Specialist, the IT Technician will evaluate and complete assigned IT support tickets and assist with the day-to-day operation of the district's schools.
Responsibilities
- Manage, maintain, and update the Asset Management System to track repairs, loaner devices, and devices assigned to students and staff.
- Facilitate collection of devices for repair and distribution of loaner devices to students and staff.
- Work with individual staff on technology needs as identified.
- Provide technical assistance with hardware, software, and services via IT support requests submitted through the district's IT ticketing system.
- Prepare for, support, and assist with state and district testing delivery.
- Assist in conducting technology needs assessments for students and staff.
- Meet regularly with and work with the Technology Department to ensure the efficient operation of the district's hardware, software, and services.
- Perform other duties as may be required due to emergencies or upon the direction of the Director of Information Technology.
Requirements
- High school graduate
- Minimum one year of experience in an IT position providing essential support, maintenance, and repair of hardware/software systems and solutions
- Strong organizational skills, with an ability to make decisions in accordance with established policies and regulations
- Ability to understand and follow directions while working independently
- Ability to assist with a variety of projects while working in a team environment
- Motivated individual who demonstrates a high aptitude for technology, with a desire and ability to learn quickly
- Outstanding communication skills
Nice-to-haves
- Technical degree (AA) or a BA in computer science or related field
- CompTIA A+, IT Fundamentals, or similar certification
- Working knowledge of Google Workspace for Education applications, including Gmail, Drive, and Calendar
- An understanding of Chromebooks and Chromebook maintenance
