About the position

The IT Technician at Loon Mountain is responsible for providing essential technical support to employees, ensuring they can effectively serve guests at the resort. This role involves a variety of tasks, including desktop PC support, maintaining production servers, and administering enterprise applications that are crucial for the resort's operations. The technician will also be involved in the installation and replacement of network devices, such as switches and wireless access points, and will maintain the network cabling infrastructure, which includes repairing or replacing defective wiring and installing new wiring as needed. The position requires good communication skills and a strong focus on guest service, as the technician will interact with both technical and business team members. In addition to technical responsibilities, the IT Technician will be expected to maintain stocks of consumable supplies and may be assigned additional tasks as necessary. The role requires the use of a personal vehicle for travel within the Loon Mountain area, with mileage reimbursement provided. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of computer systems, particularly Microsoft Windows and Office applications, and have a basic understanding of Active Directory principles. Knowledge of cabling standards and the ability to use hand tools are also important for this position. The technician will need to demonstrate problem-solving abilities and logical thinking, utilizing various resources to address technical issues. Safety is a critical aspect of this role, and the technician must protect the safety of themselves, co-workers, and guests at all times. This includes reporting any potentially harmful situations and adhering to all safety policies and procedures. The work environment can be challenging, with conditions that may be dirty, dusty, or cold, and the technician will need to be prepared to work in various settings, including shared office spaces and outdoor locations. Weekend and night work may be required, and the successful applicant will need to carry a cellular phone for communication purposes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide desktop PC support to Loon Mountain Resort employees and customers.
  • Assist with administering and maintaining production servers and enterprise applications that support Loon Mountain Resort's operations.
  • Install and/or replace network devices such as switches, wireless access points, webcams, printers, and phones.
  • Maintain network cabling infrastructure, including repairing or replacing defective wiring and installing new wiring as needed.
  • Maintain stocks of consumable supplies.
  • Use personal vehicle for travel within the Loon Mountain area while on duty.

Requirements

  • Computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Understanding of basic Active Directory principles.
  • Knowledge of CAT5 and above cabling, T568B wiring standard, and cable count color codes is a plus.
  • Ability to use basic hand tools is required.
  • Ability to use logic, vendor support, reference manuals, Internet resources, and documentation to solve problems is required.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record for company insurance purposes.
  • Ability to ski or snowboard at or above the beginner level.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ski industry and/or related IT work experience is a plus.
