About the position

The IT Technician's primary role is to work with the Management Information Systems (MIS) team to support the management, maintenance, diagnostics, service, and repair of the company's information system infrastructure. This position is crucial in ensuring that the IT systems are functioning optimally and that end users are supported, informed, and mentored as needed. Daily tasks include the maintenance, repair, and installation of computer hardware, software, and other electronic devices. The IT Technician will also be expected to take on special projects as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to contribute to various aspects of the organization. Furthermore, this role requires the IT Technician to be a role model for other employees, portraying a positive attitude and encouraging a good outlook for the future. When time permits and a need is perceived, the IT Technician should be ready to assist in other departments or job functions as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot computer workstation hardware and/or software, peripherals, LANs, WANs, and wireless networks, servers, switches, UPSs, and other hardware as necessary.
  • Create and/or maintain related documentation and technical specifications as additions, updates or changes are made.
  • Monitor network performance and work with the team to troubleshoot problem areas as necessary.
  • Interact and work with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors, as necessary, to secure support services, open repair or service tickets, and supply requested information for their support services.
  • Work with the team to maintain and monitor server and other system backups.
  • Keep the MIS team informed of daily tasks, issues, and resolutions.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma; an associate degree in an IT related field is preferred.
  • 1 - 2 years of recent experience in the IT field.
  • Experience and/or education in Windows based computer systems and servers, networking, as well as network and computer security.
  • Troubleshooting experience using analytical problem-solving abilities and techniques.
  • Competence with networking tools including RJ45 crimp and punch down tools, toners, sniffers, continuity testers, and multimeters.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • CompTIA or Microsoft Certifications preferred.
  • Actively enrolled in an IT related education program is a plus.
