About the position

The IT Technician I position is responsible for providing first and second-level support for various IT-related issues, including hardware and software troubleshooting, ensuring end-user satisfaction, and managing service requests. This role involves working under the supervision of the Service Desk Supervisor and requires effective communication with users to resolve technical problems efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot hardware and software problems, completing repairs in a timely manner.
  • Resolve and document all assigned service requests/incidents while managing end user expectations.
  • Use remote assistant tools and the county's ticketing system to diagnose and repair end user issues.
  • Provide regular communication to end users regarding the status of repairs and installations.
  • Document all required information into the county's ticketing system.
  • Maintain complete inventory of desktop hardware and software.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on workstations and peripherals.
  • Act as point of contact for vendor-related issues and escalate as needed.
  • Install and maintain phone and data cabling infrastructure.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent plus college-level coursework in computer science.
  • 1-2 years of experience in computer operations and support or equivalent education and experience.
  • Excellent oral, written, and customer service skills.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with remote support tools.
  • Knowledge of the county's standard software suite and vendor software.
