About the position

The City of Huntsville's I.T.S. department is seeking qualified applicants to fill our IT Technician II position(s). This is technical work involving installing, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing various network, computer and telecommunication devices and equipment for the employees of the City of Huntsville. Work involved in this position includes, but is not limited to, hardware and software setup and on-site maintenance of user workstations, installation and configuration of network software, maintenance and use of email service, Internet, and computer installations and configurations, on-call troubleshooting and on-site training of users.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair various network, computer and telecommunication devices and equipment.
  • Perform hardware and software setup and on-site maintenance of user workstations.
  • Install and configure network software.
  • Maintain and use email service and Internet.
  • Conduct on-call troubleshooting.
  • Provide on-site training of users.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED certificate.
  • Some college experience with a background in computer science is desired.
  • Microsoft Certification is desired.
  • Three (3) years' experience and knowledge of personal computers, software applications, hardware devices, the Internet, Email, and networking theories and practices within the last six (6) years.
  • Must be able to obtain a CJIS certification within 12 months of start date and maintain it thereafter.
  • Must successfully complete a pre-employment supplemental application and polygraph examination.
  • Must submit to a fingerprinting background check.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record.
