About the position

The IT Technician position at our public school is a vital role that involves maintaining and supporting the school's computer systems and network under the supervision of the Principal. The technician will be responsible for installing hardware and software, troubleshooting issues, and providing support to students and teachers. This role requires a proactive approach to diagnosing and resolving technical problems, ensuring that all users have the necessary support for their devices and applications. The IT Technician will interact with students, staff, and teachers, responding promptly to inquiries and requests for assistance. This position is essential for creating a seamless educational experience by ensuring that all technology functions effectively and efficiently. Key responsibilities include diagnosing and fixing issues on various devices such as Chromebooks, tablets, iPads, Macbooks, PCs, projectors, and phones. The technician will assist users with hardware and software applications, network connectivity, and database-related issues. Troubleshooting and resolution of technical problems will be a daily task, requiring excellent communication skills to interact with users via telephone, email, and in person. Additionally, the IT Technician will assist in setting up new user profiles and inventorying all electronic equipment. The role may also involve other job-related duties as assigned by the Principal, making it a dynamic and engaging position within the school environment.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and fix issues on student devices (Chromebooks, tablets, iPads, etc.) and staff devices (Macbooks, PCs, iPads, projectors, phones, etc.)
  • Assist users with computer hardware and/or software applications, network connectivity, and database related issues
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems
  • Interact and respond promptly to end user requests and inquiries via telephone, email, and in person
  • Support users who have questions and problems with applications (Hubspot, Zoom, curriculum providers, Google Suite, etc.)
  • Assist in setting up new user profiles, PCs/Laptops/Phones
  • Inventory all electronic equipment
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in technical discipline preferred but not required
  • One year of experience as service desk technician or IT helpdesk support preferred
  • One year of troubleshooting experience preferred
  • One year of customer service experience required
  • Proficient in general computer skills (MS Office, Google Suite, PDF, Adobe Suite, web browsers, etc.)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
