About the position

The IT Technician position at NWH is a full-time role primarily focused on providing front-line support for all team members. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of Windows server infrastructure, including Active Directory and Group Policy, and will be adept at troubleshooting a range of issues from simple desktop support to complex network connectivity problems. This client-facing position requires excellent customer communication skills and a friendly demeanor, as the technician will interact directly with users to resolve their IT issues. In this role, the technician will manage IT user issues through a defined business ticketing system, responding to requests both on-site and over the phone. The position also involves travel to remote sites to troubleshoot and resolve issues as directed. Responsibilities include installing, modifying, and making minor repairs to computer hardware and software systems, setting up new users, and providing technical advice on a wide range of applications. The technician will also support a highly distributed Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environment and assist in developing user documentation and departmental policies that impact the use of application systems. The technician will participate in a rotating 24/7 on-call schedule, coordinate activities with network services and information systems groups, and carry out diagnostic troubleshooting for users when required. This includes support for business applications and hardware infrastructure, as well as maintaining a thorough knowledge of the company's products through continuous study and experience. The role requires the ability to administer Exchange/Office 365, onboard and offboard users, and assist in the research and procurement of computer accessories and supplies. Overall, the IT Technician will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of IT services within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Manage IT user issues to resolution through the defined business ticketing system.
  • Respond to IT user issues on site or over the phone and determine resolution.
  • Participate in rotating 24/7 on-call support.
  • Coordinate activities with network services and information systems groups.
  • Provide updates, status, and completion information to manager and/or users.
  • Carry out diagnostic troubleshooting for users to resolve technical problems.
  • Support a highly distributed VDI environment (AWS).
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of the company's products through continuous study and experience.
  • Assist in developing user documentation and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Administer Exchange/Office 365 for user onboarding and offboarding.
  • Install hardware and peripheral components such as monitors, keyboards, and printers.
  • Load appropriate software packages such as operating systems and office applications.
  • Refer major hardware problems to service personnel for correction.
  • Assist in research and procurement of computer accessories and supplies.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of two to three years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows Server and software troubleshooting.
  • Mid-level proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with Active Directory and Group Policy.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Time management skills.
