About the position

The IT Technician position at the Town of Oro Valley involves providing technical support for various IT-related issues, including audiovisual support for meetings, hardware and software maintenance, and assistance with office user devices. The role requires a proactive approach to resolving technology challenges while ensuring high-quality service to all Town departments. The technician will work in a modern IT environment that is continuously evolving to meet the needs of the Town.

Responsibilities

• Provide audiovisual and technical support for Town Council sessions, Board and Commission meetings, and other online meetings.
• Install, diagnose, repair, and maintain computer hardware and software for staff.
• Build, install, and maintain computers and operating systems.
• Manage security threats in collaboration with law enforcement and vendors.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED.
• Two years of experience in analyzing computer systems to identify problems and develop solutions.
• Two years of experience with hardware and software installation, operation, and maintenance of desktop and portable computers.
• Two years of experience working with current Windows desktop and server operating systems.
• Two years of experience supporting current Microsoft Office applications, including Teams.

Nice-to-haves

• Familiarity with federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations pertaining to computer hardware and software.
• Experience with telecom hardware such as phones, fax machines, intercoms, and conference systems.
