About the position

The IT Technician role at First Credit Union involves analyzing and providing support for technology systems within the organization. The technician will resolve support tickets, assist with hardware and software updates, and ensure the smooth operation of IT systems. This position requires strong customer service skills and the ability to work collaboratively with IT staff and management.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, help desk technical support to staff via various communication methods.
• Assist with deployment, documentation, management, and maintenance of IT systems including workstations and servers.
• Facilitate support with existing vendors and keep the IT team informed of status updates.
• Assist in executing and updating disaster recovery procedures and work instructions.
• Maintain and monitor the distribution of server and workstation security patches and updates.
• Support the Cybersecurity Team in preventing and responding to cybersecurity events.
• Perform other duties as required by the position or instructed by the IT Department Manager.
• Understand and follow Credit Union policies and procedures.
• Handle confidential/sensitive information professionally.
• Provide periodic status updates as needed and participate in IT staff meetings.

Requirements

• A minimum of two years of experience and/or education in IT support.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Phone support experience.
• Ability to adapt and learn new technologies as needed.

Nice-to-haves

• Technical phone support experience.
• Proficiency in managing the Windows Operating System.
• Certifications such as CompTIA (A+, Security+, ITF+, Network+), Cisco CCNA, or Microsoft Fundamentals certification.
• Working knowledge of antivirus/malware, cybersecurity, or firewalls.
• Experience with disaster recovery plans and procedures.
• Knowledge of network security, design, and troubleshooting techniques.
• Experience working with VMWare, Citrix, or other virtualized environments.
• Previous experience with a credit union is highly desirable.
• Multi-lingual capabilities, including Spanish.
