About the position

The IT Technician 1 position is focused on the management and administration of Macintosh workstations and servers within a production environment. The role requires a strong background in supporting Macintosh clients, with responsibilities including troubleshooting, system administration, and ensuring the availability of infrastructure. The technician will work closely with both IT and business teams to influence and improve service levels, while also managing multiple projects with critical deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Management and System Administration of MAC workstation and Server
  • Problem Management & Escalations
  • Analysis on performance
  • Change Management activities
  • Excellent troubleshooting abilities to reduce overall incident resolution time
  • Back-up and Recovery Services
  • Upgrades and Patch management
  • Vendor Management
  • BCP/DR Implementation and Support
  • Root cause analysis and preparing Major Incident Reports
  • Installations, moves, adds, and changes (IMACs)
  • Engineering of SA-related solutions for project and operational needs
  • Work in an on-site/off-shore model ensuring seamless communication with the offshore team
  • Manage multiple projects each with critical deadlines simultaneously
  • Research and recommend innovative and automated approaches for system administration tasks
  • Ensure maximum availability of Infrastructure by providing a quick turnaround of resolution time

Requirements

  • 4-8 years of experience in supporting Macintosh Clients
  • Experience in Administration of Macintosh base environment
  • Good hands-on experience on MAC OSX Snow Leopard, OS Lion, Mountain Lion & Mavericks
  • In-depth knowledge of Apple Mac client and server operating systems
  • Exposure to Client Management tools such as Apple Remote Desktop, Deploy Studio, Package maker, FileWave & Casper
  • Basic knowledge of Windows based systems
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to influence both IT and the business
  • Troubleshooting knowledge of common Macintosh applications like Adobe apps, Quark Xpress, MS Office and Final Cut Pro (FCP)
  • Certifications - Apple Certified in Operating System (10.6, 10.7, 10.8 & 10.9), OS 10.8 & 10.9 preferred, ACMT preferred

Nice-to-haves

  • Scripting, programming and other languages (Python, Ruby, C, C++, Objective C) would be a plus

Benefits

  • Contract position with a pay rate starting from $24.00 per hour
  • 40 hours expected per week
  • Day shift schedule from Monday to Friday
