About the position

The IT Technician at Koch Foods, Inc. is a vital role responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of IT systems and providing support to staff in Chattanooga, TN. This position requires a proactive approach to managing production-critical issues, prioritizing them effectively, and escalating them to the appropriate technical staff when necessary. The technician will be tasked with reporting and validating incidents and issues reported by users, ensuring that all concerns are addressed promptly and efficiently. In addition to troubleshooting and resolving issues, the IT Technician will provide general application assistance to staff, helping them navigate software and hardware challenges. A significant part of the role involves installing and maintaining network cabling, specifically CAT6 cabling, and ensuring that all connections meet industry standards. The technician will also be responsible for installing and troubleshooting various hardware components, including PCs, Wyse Terminals, printers, and scanners. The position requires both on-site and remote support capabilities, allowing the technician to assist staff regardless of their location. Problem-solving skills are essential, as the technician will need to provide assistance and resolution for a variety of technical issues, following up to ensure that all problems are fully resolved. The role may also involve performing other related duties as required, making it a dynamic and engaging position within the IT department.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize production-critical issues and escalate to appropriate technical staff.
  • Report and validate incidents and reported issues.
  • Provide general application assistance to staff.
  • Install and maintain network cabling, specifically CAT6.
  • Install and troubleshoot hardware including PCs, Wyse Terminals, printers, and scanners.
  • Provide on-site and remote support to all staff.
  • Provide problem-solving assistance and resolution, including follow-up to ensure resolution of issues.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Degree or certification in IT related studies preferred.
  • Military background highly desirable.
  • Proficient in Microsoft software including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of CAT6 cabling with the ability to terminate both male and female jacks based on industry standards.
  • Good customer service skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
