About the position

The IT Technician position at Plaquemines Parish School Board is a full-time role dedicated to providing technical support for the school district. The technician will report to the Systems Manager and Network Administrator and will be expected to address work orders submitted by schools, providing timely and dependable resolutions to end-users. The role involves basic network troubleshooting and may require physical installation of new equipment. The technician will also assist educators with technology-related classroom issues, ensuring that all technology is utilized effectively to enhance the learning experience. This position is crucial for maintaining the technological infrastructure of the school district, and the technician will be evaluated based on their performance in accordance with the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel. The job is structured for a twelve-month work year, totaling 233 days, with salary and work year established by the Board.

Responsibilities

  • Provides first-level support for hardware, software, or peripheral equipment throughout the school district.
  • Provides dependable and timely resolutions to end-users via work order system.
  • Escalates issues to IT Administrators as needed.
  • Assists educators with computer/technology related classroom issues.
  • Performs basic network troubleshooting.
  • Connects multimedia devices.
  • Provides support to one-to-one Chromebook/laptop environment.
  • Installs new equipment physically when needed.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Experience supporting Windows-based devices and Chromebooks.
  • Good understanding of computer systems, mobile devices, and other tech products.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve basic technical issues.
  • Three years of experience in the IT support field preferred.
  • Certification in IT support preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience supporting projectors and interactive whiteboards/interactive smart TVs.
