About the position

As an IT Technician at EMR USA Metal Recycling, you will play a crucial role in providing technical support across our 16 locations in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and North Dakota. Your primary responsibility will be to address and resolve technical issues related to hardware, software, networking, and telecommunications. You will be the first point of contact for employees experiencing technical difficulties, and your ability to prioritize and evaluate requests will be essential in ensuring a smooth operational flow. This position requires a high level of professionalism, as you will be interacting with coworkers both in person and over the phone. In this field-based role, you will independently troubleshoot and resolve most technical issues with minimal supervision. You will also be responsible for setting up and installing new devices, including iPhones, iPads, desktops, and laptops, ensuring that all installations meet company standards. Your role will involve documenting and updating installation, configuration, deployment, and maintenance procedures to maintain a high level of service quality. Additionally, you will provide after-hours, on-call emergency support as needed, ensuring that all technical issues are addressed promptly and effectively. Responsibilities

  • Answer, evaluate, and prioritize requests for assistance from employees experiencing problems with hardware, software, networking, telephone, and other computer-related technologies.
  • Setup and install new iPhones, iPads, desktop and laptop equipment according to company standards, ensuring proper installation of cabling, operating systems, and appropriate software.
  • Resolve the majority of technical issues without additional assistance.
  • Provide proper follow-through to ensure issues are resolved to satisfaction.
  • Provide after-hours, on-call emergency support as needed.
  • Document and update installation, configuration, deployment, and maintenance procedures.
  • Promote Information Security within the business.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Highly self-motivated with strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to quickly diagnose and troubleshoot software and hardware issues.

Nice-to-haves

  • MCP, CCENT, and A+ Certifications.
  • Experience with HP and Cisco software and hardware.
  • Knowledge of Cisco or other Voice Over IP systems.
