About the position

This is an entry-level Technician role designed to provide a single point of contact for end users to receive support and maintenance within the organization's desktop computing environment. The primary responsibilities include installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all PC hardware and equipment to ensure optimal workstation performance. The technician will troubleshoot problem areas in a timely and accurate fashion, providing end-user assistance as required. This position is on-site at our Chelsea, Massachusetts location. The technician will be responsible for technical operational assistance, which includes installing, configuring, testing, maintaining, monitoring, and troubleshooting end-user workstations and related hardware and software to deliver required desktop service levels. This involves setting up new equipment such as laptops or desktop PCs, performing initial onsite analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of hardware, software, and application problems for end users, and recommending and implementing corrective solutions, including offsite repair for remote users as needed. Additionally, the technician will document steps performed to resolve issues with hardware, software, and application issues in a ticketing system, coordinate the donation or disposal of retired equipment, and provide support to incoming inquiries regarding equipment and software issues. The role also includes assisting with the deployment and support of scanners, printers, and other equipment for label printing and other manufacturing support devices. The technician will perform tasks per training documentation for AX transactions, maintain inventory of IT equipment and accessories, document user instructions and processes, and update conference room equipment and user instructions. Other tasks may be assigned as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot end-user workstations/kiosks and related hardware and software.
  • Setup new equipment such as Laptop or Desktop PCs and other computer devices and accessories for end users.
  • Perform initial onsite analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of hardware, software, and application problems for end users.
  • Recommend and implement corrective solutions, including offsite repair for remote users as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and document steps performed to resolve issues with hardware, software, and application issues in a ticketing system.
  • Coordinate donation or disposal of retired equipment.
  • Provide support to incoming inquiries regarding equipment and software issues via e-mail, messaging, text, or phone.
  • Assist with deployment and support of scanners, printers, and other equipment for label printing and manufacturing support devices.
  • Perform tasks per Training Documentation for AX transactions such as Transfer Orders, Inventory Updates, and product put-away.
  • Maintain inventory of IT equipment and accessories.
  • Document user instructions and processes.
  • Update conference room equipment and user instructions.

Requirements

  • High School graduate with 2 years of Technician experience or a combination of education and work experience.
  • Working technical knowledge of PC and desktop hardware and software (Windows, MS Office 365, Outlook, Teams, Zoom).
  • Hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience.
  • Equipment support experience with PCs, Laptops, and printers.
  • Ability to conduct research into PC issues and products as required.
  • Ability to operate tools, components, and peripheral accessories.
  • Able to read and understand technical manuals, procedural documentation, and OEM guides.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities, with keen attention to detail.
