About the position

The IT Technician role at MS Companies in Saline, MI, is a critical position responsible for supporting the daily operations of IT-related issues within an automotive-based environment. This position requires a proactive approach to deploying, installing, configuring, testing, and supporting Windows client and server software and systems. The IT Technician will be tasked with researching, evaluating, planning, and implementing Windows deployment strategies to ensure that all hardware, software, and operating systems conform to organizational standards and policies. In addition to technical responsibilities, the IT Technician will provide general desktop support for PCs, laptops, and servers, ensuring that all systems are functioning optimally. Disaster recovery planning and testing are also key components of this role, requiring the technician to maintain up-to-date documentation of policies and procedures. The technician will work closely with plant leadership and the IT Region Leader to escalate problems within the IT organization quickly and efficiently. The role also involves participating in risk assessments and adhering to safety instructions, particularly in relation to the ISO 14001 Environmental Policy. The technician will be expected to follow the requirements established in the Saline Plant's ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS) procedures and work instructions, ensuring compliance with environmental standards while supporting the facility's IT needs.

Responsibilities

  • Deploy, install, configure, test and support Windows client and server software/systems.
  • Research, evaluate, plan, and support Windows deployment strategies.
  • Ensure hardware, software and operating systems conform with organizational standards and policies.
  • Provide general desktop support for PCs, laptops and servers.
  • Disaster recovery planning and testing.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation of policies and procedures.
  • Escalate problems within the IT organization quickly.
  • Support commitments established in the ISO 14001 Environmental Policy.
  • Follow requirements established in Saline Plant ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS) procedures and work instructions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the plant leadership and the IT Region Leader.

Requirements

  • 2-5 years' experience (manufacturing experience preferred).
  • 5+ years of recent Windows Systems administrator experience.
  • A minimum of two years recent experience with Windows server technology including Windows 2012-2022 server administration.
  • A minimum of two years Windows based enterprise software experience.
  • A minimum of two years of VMware solutions experience.
  • General understanding/knowledge of SQL basics.
  • Familiarity with Cisco based technology is a plus.
  • Familiarity with UNIX based technology is a plus.
  • Excellent customer service and end-user support skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to work and communicate in a multi-cultural environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associates Degree in Information Technology or related field.
