About the position

The IT Technician position at American Advanced Management involves providing technical support and assistance for local desktop systems and network equipment. The role focuses on maintaining system documentation, troubleshooting network issues, and ensuring the smooth operation of IT services within the organization. The technician will work closely with the support desk and network team to resolve user issues and maintain the integrity of the computer network.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with installation, configuration, maintenance, modification, and operation of Local Area Networks.
  • Provide technical support and assistance to network users such as password resets and creating email accounts.
  • Install PCs, software, and peripheral equipment.
  • Assist with PC, network configuration and cabling.
  • Administer and maintain end user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
  • Install, configure, and maintain network cabling and other networking equipment.
  • Troubleshoot network connected end-user hardware, software, and peripheral devices.
  • Manage computer labs, installing any software needed for each quarter and/or special events.
  • Order software, hardware, and other supplies as required for the institutional computer network, personal computer, and computer labs.
  • Maintain the phone system and assist with the setup of technology for meetings, orientation/in-services, conferences, and events.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in computer science, data processing or related field.
  • Three years of IT/Helpdesk support experience is desired.
  • Ability to install software and hardware on networking equipment and microcomputers.
  • Familiarity with a variety of networking and personal computer software.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and perform routine maintenance on computers and peripheral equipment.
  • Ability to communicate information to staff and the public in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team and present information effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with network troubleshooting and repair.
  • Knowledge of various operating systems and software applications.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
