About the position

The position involves providing technical support to end-users through various channels including face-to-face, remote assistance, phone, or email. The role requires responding to helpdesk tickets and calls promptly while adhering to established IT helpdesk protocols. The technician will be responsible for upgrading, securing, and encrypting systems to ensure compatibility with software according to the organization's network security standards. Additionally, the role includes installing and configuring computer equipment, software, network components, and various devices such as printers and scanners. Troubleshooting and repairing hardware, system, and network issues are also key responsibilities, along with monitoring and maintaining computer systems and networks to ensure smooth operation. The technician will perform tests and evaluations of new software and hardware, support the Technology Supervisor in developing and implementing IT strategies, and manage IT inventory and equipment. Keeping up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends is essential, as is assisting with file archiving and conducting system backups and data recovery. Training staff as needed and performing other assigned duties are also part of the role.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical support to end-users either face-to-face, remotely, over the phone or via email.
  • Responds to 'helpdesk' tickets or calls in a timely manner and follows IT helpdesk protocols.
  • Upgrades, secures, and encrypts systems to enable compatible software on all computers according to Sunset's network security standards.
  • Installs and configures computer equipment, software, network components, systems, printers, scanners, fax machines and other devices.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs hardware, system, and network problems, diagnosing and solving faults.
  • Monitors and maintains computer systems and networks to ensure smooth operation and to identify and address problems promptly.
  • Performs tests and evaluations of new software and hardware.
  • Supports the Technology Supervisor in the development and implementation of IT strategies.
  • Sets up new user accounts and profiles and handles password issues.
  • Manages and keeps track of IT inventory and equipment.
  • Keeps up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends and updates computer systems, software, and hardware accordingly.
  • Assists with file archiving and storage of archived files.
  • Conducts system backups and data recovery in case of system failures.
  • Provides training to staff, as needed.
  • Works on other duties as assigned.
