About the position

The IT Telecom Project Manager at AtkinsRéalis will play a crucial role in coordinating IT projects specifically focused on construction efforts for semiconductor fabrication facilities, including support buildings and systems. This position requires the individual to interface and coordinate with various stakeholders, including contract design teams, construction resources, and internal organizations, to facilitate the development of Information Technology systems. The responsibilities encompass defining design criteria, developing design concepts, completing detailed designs, and managing project budgets and schedules. Additionally, the role involves ensuring compliance with safety requirements and facilitating project commissioning activities. The successful candidate will also be responsible for the closure of projects and the related documentation necessary for a smooth transition to operational support. The Project Manager will take on various levels of responsibility in developing project scope, budget, and schedule. Daily tasks will include providing direction to the General Contractor (GC) in alignment with contract requirements, managing stakeholders and vendors, and leading the work group during the construction phase. The role demands technical competence in IT infrastructure, systems, and protocols, as well as the ability to monitor and track the GC to ensure adherence to the project scope, schedule, and budget. The Project Manager will also provide technical and constructability input during design reviews and schedule development, ensuring that all work aligns with client policies and expectations. The ideal candidate will have a strong field presence, advocate for safety performance, and ensure compliance with standard operating procedures and policies. They will be responsible for developing effective process design deliverables to support all aspects of construction and will need to effectively manage design, construction, and start-up information technology systems in semiconductor facilities. The role requires proficiency in reading and interpreting construction contract documents and familiarity with low voltage communications and specialty codes. The Project Manager will also engage with various teams to define budgets, track expenditures, and ensure open communication channels with corporate services.

Responsibilities

  • Taking various levels of responsibility for, and participation in the development of, project scope, budget, and schedule
  • Providing day-to-day direction to the General Contractor (GC) in line with contract requirements
  • Managing GC, stakeholders, and vendors while working closely with SPOC, PE, & Work Group
  • Leading the work group during the construction phase, directing PE, SPOC, GC & A&E to fulfill project deliverables
  • Managing vendor installation & commissioning of relevant IT infrastructure end to end
  • Participating in design reviews and providing technical & constructability input
  • Monitoring & tracking the GC to ensure delivery of scope, schedule & budget
  • Understanding & implementing the terms of the contract with the GC
  • Inputting to cost forecasting & reviews
  • Ensuring strong quality of installation and a strong field presence
  • Advocating for safety performance in the field and ensuring compliance with mandatory safety culture
  • Developing procedures & policies for effective project delivery
  • Ensuring work is performed to client policies and expectations (IMDS / IMCS)
  • Conducting meetings with CM, A&E, sub-contractors, discipline specialists and IT Ops personnel to ensure progress is on schedule
  • Supporting commissioning activities with IT-owned rooms, including construction complete, OAT & FAT.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent qualification
  • 7 or more years of related experience in IT infrastructure and construction management
  • Industry-standard project management certification (Prince / PM)
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to develop and implement innovative engineering and design methodologies
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting standard construction documents, schedules, contracts, and proposals
  • Familiarity with design, sizing, and modeling methods for IT infrastructure
  • Understanding of commissioning, OATs & FATs
  • Ability to manage multiple projects effectively and direct the activities of others
  • Experience with construction, start-up, and turnover of systems to operational support is an advantage
  • Ability to work effectively within various management levels and resolve conflicts.
