About the position

The IT Telecommunications Engineering Consultant role at Entergy Corporation is an individual contributor position focused on design engineering and project planning/execution for the Telecommunication Transport Network. This hybrid role requires the candidate to provide telecom engineering support across Entergy's Eastern Region, which includes various operational sites. The position involves both technical responsibilities and the potential for leadership in complex problem resolution, making it suitable for candidates with varying levels of experience in telecommunications engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Provide telecom engineering support for Entergy's Eastern Region operating footprint.
  • Lead resolution of complex technical problems in coordination with IT personnel, customers, and vendors.
  • Develop strategic and tactical plans for network expansion and reliability improvements.
  • Serve as a Technical Mentor and Subject Matter Expert (SME) for junior engineers.
  • Design and implement new packet transport and support legacy communication systems on fiber optic cable and digital microwave systems.
  • Interact with various internal customers to support their telecommunications needs.
  • Plan, develop, and deliver detailed engineering packages for field installation and testing.
  • Create and maintain GIS information and operational support records in Connect Master.
  • Adhere to and improve Entergy Telecom Engineering design standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or a related field.
  • 10+ years of directly relevant experience for Senior IT Consultant; 5+ years for IT Consultant.
  • Knowledge of telecom engineering, including inside/outside plant design and construction.
  • Experience with packet-based transport and time-division multiplexing systems.
  • Proficiency in design and productivity software, including Excel, Word, Visio, and collaboration tools.
  • Experience using GIS database systems such as Connect Master or ArcGIS.

Nice-to-haves

  • Relevant professional certifications or licenses.
  • Familiarity with electronic work management systems like Service NOW or Remedy.
  • Experience with telecommunication-centric operational support systems.
