About the position

The IT Telecommunications Engineering Senior Specialist or Consultant is an individual contributor role focused on design engineering and project planning/execution for Entergy's Telecommunication Transport Network. This position involves providing telecom engineering support across Entergy's Central Region, which includes various operational sites and requires both day and occasional overnight travel. The role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, including the design and implementation of communication systems, project scoping, and maintaining operational records.

Responsibilities

  • Provide telecom engineering support for Entergy's Central Region operating footprint.
  • Support over 200 sites including office buildings, operational centers, and power generating stations.
  • Design and execute new fiber optic cable construction and packet transport systems.
  • Interact with internal customers across various departments to meet operational needs.
  • Plan and deliver detailed engineering packages for field installation and testing.
  • Implement changes to infrastructure using Entergy's change management processes.
  • Create and maintain GIS information and operational support records.
  • Improve Entergy Telecom Engineering design standards and practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience for IT Consultant; 4+ years for IT Specialist, Sr; 2+ years for IT Specialist, II; 0+ years for IT Specialist, I.
  • Knowledge of telecom engineering, including inside/outside plant design and construction.
  • Experience with packet-based transport systems and time-division multiplexing systems.
  • Familiarity with GIS database systems and work management systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Relevant professional certifications or licenses.
  • Experience with telecommunication-centric operational support systems.
  • Familiarity with electric utility organization and regulation.
