About the position

The IT Telecom Technician is responsible for the repair, troubleshooting, testing, installation, and maintenance of various telecommunications equipment, including desktop and laptop computers, printers, and network devices. This role requires hands-on technical skills and the ability to work with a variety of communication technologies to ensure efficient operation and connectivity within the organization.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs and maintenance on telecommunications equipment including desktop and laptop computers, tablets, and printers.
• Troubleshoot and test voice, data, and wireless communication equipment.
• Install and maintain Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) connections.
• Utilize test equipment such as Fluke LAN/WAN meters and VOIP systems for diagnostics.
• Implement security patches on maintained images.
• Analyze and troubleshoot Ethernet connectivity issues and in-house plant cabling.
• Perform rapid restoration of laptop and desktop computers through imaging.

Requirements

• Associates degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• Three years of experience in the repair, troubleshooting, testing, installation, and maintenance of telecommunications equipment.
• Valid Driver's license.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Microsoft software suite (Windows 10 - 11).
• Familiarity with diagnostic testing and troubleshooting test equipment.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP protocol and EIA/TIA 568 cable standards.
• Experience with Microsoft Active Directory structure.
• Ability to interpret schematics, blueprints, and floor plans.
• Experience with VOIP systems and their network protocols.
• Knowledge of cable TV systems.
