About the position

The IT Trainer/Content Developer will be responsible for delivering IT training to staff at the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT). This role involves conducting both in-person and remote training sessions on various IT applications, developing training content, and managing training schedules. The position requires travel to different district offices within Georgia and collaboration with various stakeholders to enhance training delivery and content.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver IT training to GDOT staff on custom and COTS applications.
  • Conduct on-premise classes and remote training sessions via Microsoft Teams.
  • Identify training needs and develop course content in collaboration with GDOT users.
  • Publish training schedules and manage learner enrollments through the Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Administer testing and certifications for training participants.
  • Gather feedback through training surveys to improve future training sessions.
  • Develop and maintain IT training content including presentations, guides, and videos.
  • Engage with technical staff to create effective training materials.
  • Maintain accurate records of training activities and performance indicators.

Requirements

  • 5 years of experience with Microsoft Office and Office 365 applications.
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, teaching, IT, or a related field; or an Associate Degree with 2 years of IT experience; or IT certifications with 4 years of IT experience.
  • 4 years of work experience in IT technical training or client support.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with 5 years of experience in presentation and teaching.
  • Flexibility to travel within the State of Georgia for in-person training classes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in developing role-based end user training content for IT applications/systems.
  • 2 years of experience in instructional design and visual design.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Captivate, TechSmith Camtasia, and Articulate 360/Storyline.
  • Experience with maintaining training records within an LMS, preferably Oracle LMS/Workday LMS.
  • Familiarity with Service Now.
