About the position

The IT Trainer/Content Developer position at the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) involves delivering IT training to staff on custom and commercial applications. The role requires traveling to various district locations for on-premise classes and conducting remote training sessions. The candidate will also be responsible for developing training content, managing course schedules, and ensuring effective training delivery to meet the needs of adult learners.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver IT training to GDOT staff on custom and COTS applications.
  • Conduct on-premise classes and remote training sessions via Microsoft Teams.
  • Identify training needs and develop course content in collaboration with GDOT users.
  • Publish training schedules and manage learner enrollments in the Learning Management System (Oracle/Workday).
  • Administer testing, grading, and certification processes for training courses.
  • Gather feedback through training surveys to improve delivery and content.
  • Develop and maintain IT training materials including presentations, guides, and videos.
  • Engage with technical staff to create relevant training content.
  • Maintain accurate records of training activities and performance indicators.
  • Coordinate travel arrangements for on-site training and ensure readiness of training environments.

Requirements

  • Experience with Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Word (1 year required).
  • Ability to travel to various district locations for training.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively engage with learners and stakeholders.
  • Experience in developing training content using tools like TechSmith Camtasia, Adobe Captivate, or Articulate 360/Storyline is preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS).
  • Familiarity with IT applications relevant to GDOT operations.
  • Background in instructional design or adult education.
