About the position

The IT Trainer plays a key role in advancing the Office of Innovation & Technology (OIT) for the City of Philadelphia, enhancing business processes that align with the City's strategic priorities for a future-ready, agile, digital experience. This position empowers the organization with the skills and knowledge necessary to drive innovation and efficiency through the development and delivery of engaging training programs.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop training materials, including presentations, manuals, and hands-on exercises tailored to various IT topics and skill levels.
  • Facilitate engaging training sessions, workshops, and seminars that cater to diverse learning styles and encourage active participation.
  • Work closely with OIT leaders to identify skills gaps and training needs, using assessments and feedback to inform program development.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through participant feedback, assessments, and performance metrics, and make adjustments where necessary.
  • Provide ongoing support and mentoring to OIT employees, including one-on-one coaching and mentoring, guiding them in the application of new skills and best practices in their day-to-day work.
  • Regularly review and update training materials and methodologies to reflect emerging technologies, industry standards, and organizational changes.
  • Maintain records of training activities and participant progress, reporting to management on training outcomes and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with other departments to enhance cross-functional training opportunities and promote a holistic understanding of IT's role in the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Education, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as an IT professional (e.g., system administration, software development, network management).
  • Previous experience in instructional design or training delivery, preferably in an IT environment.
  • Strong understanding of various IT concepts, tools, and technologies.
  • Excellent presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt training styles to accommodate different learning preferences.
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and e-learning tools is a plus.
