About the position

The Developer / Systems Analyst position at FirstEnergy is a critical role focused on the effective use of technology and software systems within the organization. This internship offers hands-on experience in configuring, utilizing, and securing applications while providing operational support to ensure system reliability. Interns will actively contribute to projects, receive mentorship, and develop professional skills in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the application architecture
  • Ensuring that the application server processes continue to run and operate efficiently
  • Controlling and maintaining security of the application according to FE standards
  • Performing software installation and patching based on application roadmaps and issue resolution
  • Identifying opportunities to automate processes to maintain platform performance and availability
  • Troubleshooting applications and systems for issue resolution and root-cause analysis
  • Supporting and improving business processes
  • Creating and maintaining system documentation and procedures to ensure governance and standards
  • Analyzing requirements, documentation, use cases, and workflow
  • Consulting with business partners to refine requirements and explain tradeoffs between usability and performance
  • Developing solutions to support or enhance production processes and operations
  • Assisting in defect resolution during testing of applications
  • Managing the IT change management process for new solution implementation, adhering to compliance guidelines
  • Providing insight into application data
  • Developing data queries and reporting solutions to meet customer requirements

Requirements

  • Must be actively enrolled in an accredited university or college
  • Passion for technology and problem-solving
  • Strong communication skills for collaboration between IT and business units

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with application architecture
