About the position

The IT User Support Specialist II at WECA is responsible for providing technical support for Windows Server, Network, and Desktop systems. This role involves troubleshooting and resolving hardware and software issues, assisting with Active Directory and Office 365 administration, and supporting Apprenticeship Instructors across various locations. The position requires on-site presence and is not eligible for remote work.

Responsibilities

  • Perform server health checkups for Windows 2019-2022.
  • Conduct server hardening with updates and firewall entries.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve server hardware, network, printer, VOIP phone system, and software issues reported through the Asset Essentials ticket system.
  • Troubleshoot network and firewall issues including VLAN and routing issues.
  • Work in VMWare to add and maintain VMs and systems.
  • Initiate and complete projects that enhance user experience.
  • Take initiative on enhancements to server, network, and VOIP systems.
  • Coordinate access to students facing Windows servers and networks.
  • Perform advanced tasks in Office 365, including troubleshooting complex issues and managing tenant applications.
  • Maintain Windows 2019 and 2022 servers and edit user rights on folders with Active Directory.
  • Review daily security logs in Office 365/Azure/CrowdStrike and mitigate issues.
  • Organize the IT office and manage proper collection and disposal of e-waste.
  • Maintain inventory of IT assets and keys.
  • Configure and maintain MFA for laptops and desktops.
  • Configure and deploy new computers.
  • Conduct periodic server audits for maintenance and security, including cybersecurity system monitoring.
  • Assist with classroom technology updates (Smartboards, Cameras, communication devices).
  • Perform basic data entry and receipt reconciliation for IT expenses.

Requirements

  • At least three years of proven professional experience providing technical server/network/desktop support in a Windows 2019/Windows 11 environment for both software and hardware.
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in a related field, or progress towards achieving one, preferred.
  • Excellent Office 365 Admin and Azure experience working with web-based content management systems and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Experience in SharePoint (SP) Admin with the ability to create new SP instances and mitigate user and team issues within SP.
  • Experience with VMWare configuration and troubleshooting of the system and VMs, including creation of new VMs, vmotion, and load balancing.
  • Experience with cybersecurity software configuration and fine-tuning.
  • Experience with MDM applications such as Adobe Connect, Adobe Acrobat Pro, eInstruction ExamView, Articulate, and WECA's proprietary programs.
  • Firewall and network experience, preferably on Fortigate products or similar.
  • Customer-service oriented with the ability to provide in-person, chat, phone, and/or email support cheerfully and patiently to users from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong organizational skills, highly efficient, detail-oriented, and self-motivated.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (3 years preferred).
