The ITIL Production Server Operations Administrator role at a prestigious financial company is a critical position that focuses on ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of production operations. This position requires a proactive approach to managing production systems, emphasizing continuous improvement (CI) and operational readiness. The candidate will work closely with various teams, including Production Control, Production Support, Release Management, Platform Services, Storage, Unix, Networking, Business Operations, and Change/Problem/Incident Management. The primary goal is to shift the operational posture from reactive to proactive, ensuring that production runs smoothly and efficiently. In this role, the administrator will analyze and report on production performance, capacity, and critical-path processing to identify CI opportunities. They will be responsible for troubleshooting complex hardware and software issues, collaborating with IT staff and vendors to perform testing and support functions. The administrator will also forecast system demands and recommend necessary upgrades, expansions, and reconfigurations. A key aspect of the role is to advocate for operational best practices and adhere to ITIL processes, including Incident, Problem, and Change Management. The administrator will actively participate in incident management, serving as a shepherd for production-related issues, and will analyze repeating alerts to proactively identify environmental issues. They will prioritize efforts based on production availability requirements and business priorities, and may be required to work after hours or on weekends during maintenance windows.
