About the position

As a Programmer Advisor at GDIT, you will play a crucial role in transforming technology into opportunity by building and integrating an IT Service Management (ITSM) system. This position involves working closely with the Space Force customer to understand their requirements and leading a team of programmers to deliver a robust ITSM solution utilizing tools such as JIRA Service Management, Dynatrace, and Sailpoint in a secure environment. Your expertise in programming and system integration will be essential in enhancing operational efficiency and ensuring the security of the digital environment.

Responsibilities

  • Build and code applications and/or models using various programming languages.
  • Work directly with the Space Force customer to understand requirements.
  • Lead other programmers in the delivery of the ITSM system and collaborate with the engineering team to design integrations.
  • Build, configure, and maintain the ITSM system (JIRA Service Management) for Space Force's digital environment.
  • Integrate COTS products like JIRA, Confluence, Sailpoint, and Dynatrace to monitor, manage, and automate ITSM processes.
  • Design, develop, deploy, and maintain operating systems and software.
  • Install enhancements and perform updates to existing systems, including middleware and application programs.
  • Troubleshoot problems and provide customer support for software systems and application issues.
  • Debug system software problems and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Perform maintenance tasks to keep systems running smoothly and write/update test procedures.
  • Coach and provide guidance to less-experienced professionals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
  • 5+ years of related experience in IT service management and programming.
  • Secret Clearance required.
  • Technical skills in integration of COTS tools using JavaScript, SOAP/REST APIs, XML, jQuery, Python, Java, and JSON.
  • Hands-on experience with API development and integration with third-party authentication and monitoring tools.
  • Strong analytical, verbal and written communication skills, creativity, problem-solving, and group leadership abilities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Dynatrace and JIRA is beneficial but not required.
  • Familiarity with JIRA Service Management (JSM) application and JSM Webhooks.
