About the position

The ITSN Research Assistant I position at the Children's Learning Institute focuses on supporting research projects aimed at improving child development outcomes. The role involves conducting assessments, data collection, and participant outreach, while also providing support in various research-related tasks. This position is integral to the mission of advancing learning and health outcomes for children through research and clinical programs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide reliability status on various objective and subjective coding analysis measures pertaining to projects within the department.
  • Perform cognitive/social/emotional assessments with children and conduct interviews with teachers and families, managing appropriate research equipment and supplies.
  • Conduct observational evaluations in schools and classrooms focusing on cognitive readiness activities using a complex live coding scheme.
  • Manage a range of data including transferring, verifying, entering, processing, and analyzing information.
  • Attend relevant trainings and assist in recruiting subjects (teachers, students, families) and obtaining informed consent from potential research study participants.
  • May serve in an intervention or coaching role in home or school settings to train parents or teachers in parenting, including extensive trainings and regular meetings to maintain certification and reliability.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, human development, biology, or a relevant field; master's degree preferred.
  • Completion of the Certification for Protection of Human Research Subjects within 5 days of employment.
  • Experience in customer service, behavioral analysis, or research experience is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Reliable personal transportation for out-of-town travel.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual skills in English/Spanish preferred.
  • Familiarity with RedCap, Jira, Excel, Teams, Observation, and Data Collection.
