The IVF Lab Assistant will work collaboratively with the laboratory team, ensuring that all laboratory procedures are performed accurately and efficiently. This position is essential in maintaining the quality and safety protocols within the lab, as well as managing patient records and data. The Lab Assistant will report directly to the IVF Lab Supervisor and will be responsible for a variety of tasks that support the overall operations of the IVF lab. The role involves assembling, organizing, and filing patient charts, conducting quality assurance/control of patient charts according to CAP guidelines, and monitoring lab communications. The Lab Assistant will also generate daily surgery schedules, maintain active ART patients in the IVF portal, and coordinate daily ART procedures. This position requires attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. The Lab Assistant will also assist with data management and reporting, ensuring that all necessary information is accurately recorded and submitted in a timely manner. Overall, this position is vital to the success of the IVF lab and the care provided to our patients. Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with quality control and safety protocols.
  • Prepare and handle laboratory equipment and supplies.
  • Assemble, organize, and file patient charts, freeze cards, FDA paperwork, and consent forms.
  • Conduct quality assurance/control of patient charts according to CAP guidelines.
  • Monitor lab emails, phones, and EMR to answer questions and address requests.
  • Generate daily surgery schedule for OR and IVF Lab; coordinate with the Doctor(s) and IVF staff's schedule.
  • Maintain all active ART patients in the IVF portal, verifying accuracy of patient data and demographics.
  • Coordinate daily ART procedures such as egg retrievals and embryo transfers.
  • Assign incubator locations for IVF Lab patients and enter patient information in the Electronic Witnessing system.
  • Scan completed IVF/FET lab forms into patient EMR for Doctor/Nurse reference.
  • Collect and input ongoing SART data and audit charts for required information.
  • Assist cryopreservation specialist with embryo scheduling and documentation.
  • Maintain/update Cryoinventory database and assist with data manipulation as needed.
  • Obtain/maintain Mayo Clinics Shipping and Receiving Hazardous Materials certification.
  • Serve as a witness to the Embryologist during CCS processing and vitrification.
  • Review disposition and dispose of embryo(s)/oocytes and maintain accurate records.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED certification required.
  • Associates degree or higher preferred.
  • Medical lab experience preferred.
  • Experience with computer database programs required.

Nice-to-haves
