About the position

The IVOS Application Support Engineer plays a crucial role in the Risk Management department, utilizing Ventiv Technology's Claims Enterprise and Integrated Risk Management (IRM) systems to support the client's self-insured insurance program. The Claims Enterprise system is utilized by nearly 100 users, primarily adjusters and insurance program staff, while the IRM system serves around 300 users who access their claims and loss experiences through this platform. The Application Support Engineer will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining the efficiency of these software applications, ensuring that they meet the needs of the users effectively. In this position, the Application Support Engineer will report directly to the Director of Risk Management and will collaborate closely with colleagues to perform successful software upgrades and provide application support to end-users. The role requires a proactive approach to application support, with a focus on identifying and resolving issues before they impact users. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating the ability to provide top-notch application support. Key responsibilities include performing analyses on software application functionality, suggesting improvements, and creating and modifying internal reports using tools such as iVOS Reporter and Jasper AdHoc. The engineer will also consult with software vendors and internal stakeholders to enhance application performance, develop and maintain test plans for application upgrades, and document processes while monitoring application performance metrics. Additionally, the role involves understanding the business workflow and requirements of all work units that utilize the applications, serving as a subject matter expert in all related projects, and managing a support team while attending meetings with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Providing software application support under the supervision of the IT Director.
  • Performing analyses on software application functionality and suggesting improvements.
  • Creating and modifying internal reports using iVOS Reporter, Jasper AdHoc, and other Ventiv reporting tools.
  • Consulting with software vendors, internal users, and stakeholders to improve application performance.
  • Developing and maintaining test plans for application upgrades.
  • Establishing the root causes of application errors and working with the vendor to identify fixes or bugs.
  • Keeping a record of configuration changes and scheduling application updates.
  • Documenting processes and monitoring application performance metrics.
  • Providing front-end support to management and colleagues in other departments.
  • Monitoring and correcting issues with all external interfaces and processes.
  • Understanding the business workflow and business requirements of all work units that use the applications.
  • Serving as a subject expert in all projects related to the application.
  • Managing and overseeing a support team and attending meetings with agencies and other team associates and program managers.
  • Providing subject assistance with all State and Federal reporting mandates.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or similar preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years related experience supporting software systems.
  • Demonstrable experience as an Application Support Engineer in a related field.
  • Knowledge of Oracle PL-SQL and IBM Cognos is a plus.
  • Experience supporting insurance claims management and risk management systems is a plus.
  • Experience with or willingness to learn support for EDI troubleshooting and setup.
  • Exceptional ability to provide front-end support to internal departments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to work with software vendors to resolve issues in a timely fashion.
  • Exceptional communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • System administration experience with Ventiv Technology's Claims Enterprise (iVOS) platform or a similar insurance claims management system.
  • System administrator experience with document capturing platforms such as Kofax KTM.
  • Experience maintaining complex transactional systems including payment processing systems.
  • Experience with Oracle SQLPlus or other SQL reporting languages.
  • Experience developing and maintaining reports and views using JasperSoft Reporting and Ad Hoc tools or other similar business analytics tools.
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel including building and using Pivot Tables, building complex formulas, and developing graphs.
