About the position

The Associate Product Manager at IXL Learning will play a crucial role in the product team, focusing on creating innovative educational products that enhance learning experiences for students, teachers, and parents. This position involves collaborating with various teams to ensure user needs are met throughout the product development process, from ideation to launch. The ideal candidate will have a passion for education, strong analytical skills, and a desire to contribute meaningfully to the team while growing their product management expertise.

Responsibilities

• Understand the needs of student, teacher, and parent users, advocating for user experience throughout product development.
• Understand IXL's product philosophy and strategy to inform feature design and development decisions.
• Gather context and clarify goals for new projects.
• Write and communicate product requirements and conduct product reviews.
• Collaborate with visual designers to create effective product experiences.
• Partner with engineering teams to align technical designs with product needs and resolve implementation roadblocks.
• Work with marketing to ensure successful product launches, including crafting product positioning and messaging.
• Coordinate with teams across functions to share information and provide clarity on product statuses.
• Manage multiple competing priorities and projects effectively.
• Build strong partnerships with product leads, designers, engineers, and product marketers to ensure product success.
• Become an expert on IXL products and gain domain knowledge in the education space.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in STEM or a related field.
• 1-3 years of experience in product management or adjacent roles.
• Demonstrated technical abilities; some computer science coursework or programming experience is preferred.
• Highly developed analytical-reasoning and problem-solving skills, with proven success applying them independently.
• Strong written and spoken communication skills, with an emphasis on clarity and conciseness.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work across teams to achieve goals.
• Enthusiasm for tackling tough problems independently, from assessing high-level goals to perfecting details.
• Exceptionally organized self-starter, efficient and thrives under pressure.
• Interest in design thinking; some coursework or experience in UI/UX design is helpful.
• Interest in K-12 education; classroom/teaching experience is a plus.
• Growth mindset; excited by challenges and possesses a can-do attitude.
• Curiosity, open-mindedness, and a positive attitude.
