About the position

PCSI is seeking a dedicated Janitor to join our team at the San Antonio (Camp Bullis) site. This role is essential in maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of various facilities, including office buildings and institutional spaces. The ideal candidate will possess a proactive attitude and take pride in their work, ensuring that all areas are kept in pristine condition. Reporting directly to the Project Manager, the Janitor will perform a variety of routine, unskilled, and semi-skilled housekeeping tasks. The position requires a commitment to safety and compliance with all relevant regulations, including City, State, and Federal requirements. As a Janitor, you will be responsible for cleaning and maintaining various areas, including rooms, hallways, lobbies, break rooms, restrooms, and more. Your duties will include sweeping, mopping, dusting, and polishing surfaces, as well as managing waste disposal and replenishing supplies. You will also be tasked with maintaining records of completed work and ensuring that all cleaning equipment is kept in satisfactory working condition. The role may require you to work flexible hours, including mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays, depending on the needs of the facility. This position is physically demanding, requiring the ability to lift heavy objects and perform tasks that involve bending, climbing, and walking for extended periods.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine housekeeping work to maintain cleanliness in office buildings and other facilities.
  • Clean and polish lighting fixtures, marble surfaces, and trim.
  • Sweep and mop floors, and operate a floor buffer as needed.
  • Vacuum carpets and clean upholstered furniture and draperies.
  • Dust furniture and equipment, and polish metalwork.
  • Wash walls, ceilings, and woodwork, as well as windows and door panels.
  • Empty wastebaskets and clean ashtrays, transporting trash and recyclables to disposal areas.
  • Replenish bathroom supplies and maintain cleanliness in restrooms.
  • Open, close, lock, and unlock facilities as needed.
  • Keep records of work completed and report any issues to the Project Manager.
  • Move and set up furniture and equipment as required.
  • Policing of grounds and maintaining parking lots and walkways free of debris.
  • Conserve cleaning supplies and maintain assigned equipment in working condition.
  • Understand and follow safety policies and procedures, including reading Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for chemicals used.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum one year of experience as a Janitor preferred, or a combination of education and training that demonstrates the necessary knowledge and experience.
