The Lead Janitor/Janitorial Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the routine cleaning of all areas within the building and the surrounding grounds. This role involves not only performing cleaning tasks but also supervising and training custodial staff to ensure that high standards of cleanliness, safety, and efficiency are maintained. The Lead Janitor will assist in the selection and scheduling of custodial staff, ensuring that all team members are adequately trained and equipped to perform their duties effectively. In addition to supervisory responsibilities, the Lead Janitor will perform minor maintenance tasks, such as replacing lights, ceiling tiles, and windows when necessary. This position requires maintaining an inventory of custodial supplies and making recommendations for suitable products to ensure that the cleaning team has the necessary tools to perform their jobs. Regular inspections of the custodial staff's performance will be conducted to ensure compliance with established standards. The Lead Janitor must also manage the security of the building by locking and unlocking doors and checking the premises regularly. Daily cleaning tasks include vacuuming carpets, washing windows, wiping down furniture, cleaning restrooms, and maintaining the floors. The role also involves maintaining payroll records for the custodial staff, ensuring accurate tracking of hours worked. The Lead Janitor must possess strong communication skills to effectively interact with both customers and co-workers, and must be able to respond promptly to emails and other communications.
