About the position

The Janitor at New Leaf Community Markets is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the store, ensuring a welcoming environment for customers and staff. This role involves performing various housekeeping tasks, providing exceptional customer service, and contributing to a positive team atmosphere. The position requires a proactive approach to cleanliness and customer engagement, embodying the company's core values of community, integrity, sustainability, quality, and respect.

Responsibilities

• Maintains whole store cleanliness, including sales floor, restrooms, deli seating area, offices, hallways, stairs, and staff break room.
• Cleans break room refrigerators, composting outdated staff food, cleaning containers, and disposing of items according to company policy.
• Empties trash, recycling, and compost throughout the entire store, including individual departments, break rooms, offices, and outside as needed.
• Keeps parking lot clean of debris and trash.
• Sorts clean laundry upon arrival to the store and assists in preparing dirty laundry for pick-up.
• Sweeps, vacuums, dusts, scrubs, mops, washes, and operates steam cleaners and dishwashers.
• Restocks deli seating area, restroom, and cleaning supplies.
• Performs deep cleaning tasks as assigned.
• Handles damaged and spoiled products according to company policy.
• Maintains cleanliness, organization, and rotation of all areas, products, and supplies.
• May assist with bagging groceries and customer carry-outs as needed.

Requirements

• Previous customer service, food service, retail, or grocery experience preferred.
• Knowledge of retail operations department or janitorial/housekeeping experience preferred.
• Basic ability to read and interpret documents required.
• Basic math and computation skills preferred.
• Ability to read, understand, and follow through on verbal and written instructions.

Nice-to-haves
