The Janitor position at Elderly Housing Development & Operations Corporation involves performing essential janitorial services for two properties in Miami Beach, ensuring cleanliness and sanitation in common areas and offices. The role requires a proactive approach to maintaining a safe and hygienic environment for residents, particularly the elderly and handicapped, while adhering to company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform all janitorial services for the community in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Implement systematic schedules for cleaning common areas, offices, hallways, and restrooms.
• Gather and dispose of refuse daily from various areas including offices and common restrooms.
• Clean public bathrooms daily and check them at least twice a day for sanitation supplies.
• Vacuum carpeting in hallways, offices, and lobby, and spot clean as necessary.
• Dust and wet mop all vinyl flooring areas, and implement regular waxing and buffing schedules.
• Clean windows in offices and common areas according to set schedules.
• Maintain an inventory of janitorial equipment and supplies, ensuring all are on hand.
• Participate in make-ready unit turns including cleaning and painting to prepare units for occupancy.
• Assist Maintenance Staff as needed.

Requirements

• One year of experience in janitorial work.
• Ability to operate janitorial equipment such as floor buffers and vacuum cleaners.
• Hands-on knowledge of housekeeping and basic grounds keeping services.
• Verbal and written language skills in the primary language of the property location (English or Spanish).
• Understanding of the circumstances associated with working with the elderly and handicapped.
• Ability to take initiative in performing duties.
