About the position

The Janitorial Lead position at CW Resources involves supervising a custodial crew primarily composed of individuals with disabilities. The role focuses on ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of facilities while providing guidance and support to the team. The Lead Custodian is responsible for coordinating work schedules, training staff, and performing various custodial duties to maintain a safe and orderly environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the supervision of the custodial crew.
  • Act as a leader amongst the custodial staff and provide guidance when needed.
  • Responsible for the collection of recycle bins and their distribution to the recycling center.
  • Coordinate work schedules to ensure timely and effective completion of maintenance and care of buildings and offices.
  • Assist with ordering inventory for the facility.
  • Maintain storage areas and cleaning equipment in a safe and orderly manner.
  • Train, supervise, and evaluate assigned custodial staff.
  • Open and close locks and unlock facilities as needed.
  • Keep records of work completed.
  • Clean offices, meeting chambers, and recreational facilities.
  • Mop tile and concrete floor areas.
  • Vacuum all carpeted areas.
  • Dust all furniture and fixtures as required.
  • Wash and disinfect all washroom floors and fixtures.
  • Replenish toilet tissue and soap as needed.
  • Empty all waste baskets and garbage cans.
  • Clean entrance and exit areas including glass and doors.
  • Keep outside area near exit and entrance clear of debris.
  • Clean and disinfect drinking fountains.
  • Wash all finger marks from walls and doors.
  • Clean break room sinks and counters.
  • Report damages and acts of vandalism.
  • Wash and buff floors with floor polisher.
  • Ensure cleaning materials and supplies are stored safely and orderly.
  • Maintain an adequate supply of cleaning materials and supplies.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years custodial or janitorial experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong proficiency in operating custodial equipment.
  • Ability to work directly with disabled individuals.
