About the position

Marcis & Associates, Inc. is currently seeking highly motivated individuals to join our Custodial Cleaning crew in Columbia, Missouri. The ideal candidates for these positions must be detail-oriented, flexible, and willing to take on non-routine cleaning and special projects as needed. The Custodians will be responsible for cleaning and sanitizing various areas including offices, meeting rooms, patient exam rooms, restrooms, kitchen and dining areas, and public waiting areas. This role is essential in maintaining a clean and safe environment for both employees and visitors. The position requires working part-time in the evenings from 5 PM to 9 PM, Monday through Friday. The responsibilities of the Custodians include a variety of cleaning tasks such as emptying trash cans and other waste receptacles, using proper cleaning solutions to dust and wipe down surfaces, vacuuming carpets, sweeping and mopping floors, and cleaning restrooms with disinfectants. Additionally, custodians are expected to report any mechanical or electrical malfunctions to their supervisor, ensure that all lights are turned off and doors are locked when leaving an area, and maintain cleanliness in janitor closets. The role may also involve returning cleaning materials and supplies to the storeroom and refilling items as needed at the end of each shift. Other duties may be assigned as necessary to ensure the cleanliness and safety of the facilities.

Responsibilities

• Empty trash cans and other waste receptacles into refuse collection bag(s) and replace can liners.
• Using proper cleaning solutions, clean, dust, damp wipe and/or spot clean all vertical and horizontal surfaces including desks, tabletops, chairs, filing cabinets, bookshelves, telephones, walls, light switches, partitions, doors, and mirrors.
• Vacuum all carpets and entrance mats; sweep and wet mop all hard surface floors.
• Clean restrooms using disinfectants to clean all commodes, urinals, and sinks; resupply soap, toilet tissue, and paper towels; clean all vents, mirrors, dispensers, and spot wash walls, partitions, and doors; sweep and wet mop floors.
• Report any mechanical and/or electrical malfunctions to the supervisor.
• Ensure all lights are out and appropriate doors are locked when leaving an area.
• Keep janitor closets clean, neat, and orderly.
• Return all cleaning materials and supplies to storeroom and refill items as needed at the end of the shift.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Legally authorized to work in the United States.
