About the position

The Java 8+/Spring/SQL Developer role involves developing and maintaining applications for a Defined Benefit calculation engine. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders and a focus on engineering excellence within an agile software delivery environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Defined Benefit (DB) calculation engine applications using Java, Spring Framework, XML, HTML, JDBC, SQL, Sybase, JUnit, and JaCoCo.
• Build and maintain Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines for defined benefit applications using Maven, Jenkins, Stash, and Sonar.
• Effectively operate in an agile software delivery environment/Scrum.
• Work closely with application owners, solution architects, and business sponsors.
• Ensure designs meet performance, security, usability, reliability, and scalability requirements.
• Identify and build technologies, practices, and tools needed to build the platform.
• Collaborate with different groups within the organization, identify best engineering practices, and promote those across other organizations.
• Mentor other team members and collaborate extensively with the offshore development team.
• Conduct demos, participate in technical reviews, and drive engineering excellence.

Requirements

• BS or above in Computer Science or related field.
• 6+ years of N-tier application development experience with proven understanding of Java, Spring, OOD, XML, HTML, DevOps, and Sybase/SQL/Relational Databases.
• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum project environment with project team members in multiple locations, including offshore.
• Strong Object-oriented analysis and design experience.
• Proven expertise and passion for delivering complex technology solutions and achieving results.
• Passionate about engineering excellence, innovation, and empowerment.
• Proficiency and eagerness to learn new domain.

Nice-to-haves

• Hands-on experience with actuarial science/defined benefits domain is highly preferred.
