About the position

The Java API Developer position is focused on developing and maintaining software solutions using Java technologies. The role requires extensive experience in software development, particularly with Java 8 and related frameworks, as well as API development and UI technologies. The developer will work in a collaborative environment, engaging with both technical and business stakeholders to deliver innovative solutions.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain software applications using Java 8, JDBC, Spring MVS, Spring Boot, and Maven.
• Create and manage APIs using RESTful services.
• Engage in UI development using Angular or React, with a preference for Angular.
• Utilize tools such as Splunk and Elk for application development and monitoring.
• Implement continuous integration and deployment processes using CI/CD tools like Jenkins and XLRelease.
• Communicate effectively with third parties and product managers regarding solutions and designs.
• Troubleshoot multi-threading and memory utilization issues, collaborating with product support teams for resolution.
• Adapt to various development methodologies including Waterfall and Agile.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software development experience using Java 8 and related technologies.
• Experience with Mainframe JCL, COBOL, IMS DB, and DB2 ZOS.
• Hands-on experience with API development using REST.
• Proficiency in UI development with Angular (preferred) or React.
• Familiarity with No-SQL databases such as Cassandra or Couchbase.
• Experience with CI/CD tooling like Jenkins pipelines and XLRelease.
• Strong communication skills, rated at least 7/10.
• Ability to think abstractly and handle ambiguous problems.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Middleware Utilities such as Data Power and MQ Series.
• Background in financial transaction processing technology.
• Experience specifically from VISA.
