About the position
The Java Architect FSD with AWS will lead a team of developers in building an application development platform, focusing on Java technologies. This role involves collaborating with development teams to identify and prioritize strategies that align with business needs, defining strategic directions, and developing tactical plans. The architect will also engage in hands-on contributions to critical projects, ensuring that both functional and non-functional requirements are met while introducing new concepts and tools to enhance the platform.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of developers in building the application development platform composed of Java developers.
- Collaborate with development teams to identify patterns and strategies for the platform.
- Define strategic direction and develop tactical plans for the platform.
- Work with application and infrastructure teams to provision platform components.
- Augment critical projects through direct involvement and hands-on contributions such as prototyping and developing critical modules.
- Translate business requirements into foundational components for the platform.
- Identify opportunities for change and implement new concepts, procedures, policies, and tools.
- Work with business stakeholders and cross-functional teams, leading by example.
Requirements
- Strong experience with Java stack, particularly Spring Boot.
- Full stack solution design and implementation expertise.
- Experience designing and implementing high-performance enterprise-scale distributed systems.
- Knowledge of distributed caching patterns and integration patterns.
- Familiarity with API platform engineering fundamentals, including Open API spec and API gateways.
- Experience with profiling and performance optimization, including threading and memory management.
- Experience building solutions for containerized environments, ideally OnPrem Cloud.
- Experience with microservices architecture and defining application boundaries.
- Knowledge of modern DevOps practices, including CI/CD and observability.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with public clouds, ideally AWS.
- Industry knowledge in financial services, particularly in capital markets and wealth management.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with low latency application design and building.
- Familiarity with service mesh architecture.
