About the position

The Java AWS Lead Engineer will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of Java-based applications on AWS, specifically within the payments sector. This role requires a strong background in payment systems, particularly with experience from major financial institutions such as Visa, MasterCard, Amex, or Capital One. The position is onsite in Riverwoods, IL, and is offered as a long-term contract.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of Java applications on AWS.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
• Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications.
• Identify and correct bottlenecks and fix bugs.
• Help maintain code quality, organization, and automatization.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Java Developer with a strong understanding of AWS services.
• Experience in the payments industry, specifically with Visa, MasterCard, Amex, or Capital One.
• Strong knowledge of Java frameworks and tools.
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs and microservices architecture.
• Experience with version control systems, preferably Git.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
